Basketball Recap: Weed Snags Ninth Victory in Last 11 Games

Weed won the last time they faced Etna, and Annabelle McCarthy did her part to make sure it happened again. Everything went the Weed Cougars' way against the Etna Lions on Tuesday as the Weed Cougars made off with a 53-28 win thanks in part to McCarthy, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. That's the most points she has posted since back in February of 2024.

Brooklynn Bivens was another key player, putting up 14 points. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played.

Weed is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.1 points per game. As for Etna, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-14.

Coincidentally, Weed and Etna will both be playing Fall River the next time they take the court. Weed will head out to face Fall River at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Etna will host them at 7:00 p.m. on February 4th.
