Soccer Game Preview: Lynbrook vs. Fremont

Lynbrook hasn't had much luck against Fremont recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Lynbrook Vikings will venture away from home to challenge the Fremont Firebirds at 6:00 p.m.

Lynbrook is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Saratoga on Tuesday. Lynbrook fell just short of Saratoga by a score of 3-2. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 833rd, while the Falcons are ranked 346th).

Isha Mani and Aditi Satish scored both of Lynbrook's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 13 goals.

Meanwhile, Fremont waltzed into their match on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They put the hurt on the Matadors with a sharp 4-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Firebirds, who have now won nine games by three goals or more so far this season.

Fremont's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-3-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 28 goals over those seven contests. As for Lynbrook, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-9-2.

Lynbrook might still be hurting after the 6-1 defeat they got from Fremont in their previous matchup back in January. Can Lynbrook avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
