Baseball Recap: Union City Comes Up Short

If Union City was riding high fresh off their 18-0 takedown of Dickinson last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Soaring Eagles fell 7-4 to the Bloomfield Bengals on Wednesday. The Soaring Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bengals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Union City saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Peres, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and one run. Another was Ricardo Hernandez, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one double.

Union City's defeat dropped their record down to 12-15. As for Bloomfield, their victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-20.

Coming up, Union City will face off against Belleville on Wednesday. As for Bloomfield, they will head out on the road to face off against Montclair Kimberley Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
