Basketball Game Preview: Making Waves Academy Marlins vs. Point Arena Pirates

The Making Waves Academy Marlins will take on the Point Arena Pirates at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Making Waves Academy is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Making Waves Academy came into this matchup off a tough 35-point loss two weeks ago. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Elite by a score of 32-29 on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Point Arena lost to Calistoga on the road by a 43-25 margin on Monday.

Despite the defeat, Point Arena saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jayde Swan posted 13 points.

Point Arena's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Making Waves Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Making Waves Academy came up short against Point Arena in their previous matchup back in December of 2019, falling 34-28. Can the Marlins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
