Preview: Gridley Bulldogs vs. Lassen Grizzlies
Gridley has been on the road for three straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Lassen Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, things could have been worse for Gridley, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 52-37 loss to Las Plumas.
Brook Marr put forth a good effort for the losing side as she dropped a double-double on 23 points and 16 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last 19 games she's played. Kirsten Muzzy was another key contributor, scoring four points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Lassen's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They were beaten by West Valley 75-39. Lassen was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-16.
Despite the loss, Lassen had strong showings from Nellie Ratcliff, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds, and Mili Crosno, who scored 12 points. Crosno continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Gridley's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-12. As for Lassen, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-19 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Gridley have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Lassen struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24.1 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Gridley might still be hurting after the 56-35 loss they got from Lassen in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Gridley was down 38-14.
