Recap: Port Allegany Gators vs. Northern Potter Panthers
The Port Allegany Gators had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They walked away with a 46-34 win over Northern Potter. That's another feather in the cap for Port Allegany, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Kayleigha Dowell was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Renner, who scored four points along with ten rebounds and two steals.
Port Allegany's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4. As for Northern Potter, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
Port Allegany won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Kane at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Pennsylvania (Kane is ranked 292nd, while Port Allegany is ranked 267th). As for Northern Potter, they will be playing at home against Smethport at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
