Preview: Mesa Verde Mavericks vs. Lindhurst Blazers
The Mesa Verde Mavericks will be home for the holidays to greet the Lindhurst Blazers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Last Thursday, Mesa Verde was beaten by Rosemont 52-21. Mesa Verde has not had much luck with Rosemont recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Meanwhile, Lindhurst's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 51-22 loss at the hands of Foothill. While losing is never fun, Lindhurst can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1264th, while Foothill is ranked 616th).
Mesa Verde's loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 5-5. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 24.4 points per game. As for Lindhurst, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.
Mesa Verde took their victory against Lindhurst in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 by a conclusive 47-26. Will Mesa Verde repeat their success, or does Lindhurst have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
