Basketball Recap: South Tahoe Piles Up the Points Against Sparks

South Tahoe waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They really took it to the Sparks Railroaders for the full four quarters, racking up a 53-9 win. The Vikings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.

South Tahoe got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Avery Long out in front who posted eight points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Valeria Diaz, who went 5 for 10 en route to 10 points and three steals.

South Tahoe was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Sparks lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Shea Patterson, who put up two points and eight rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played.

South Tahoe pushed their record up to 13-10 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 18.8 points over those games. As for Sparks, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.

South Tahoe has already played their next matchup, a 45-38 defeat against Lowry on the 10th. Sparks does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
