Basketball Recap: Dougherty Valley Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Dougherty Valley can now relate to. They fell just short of the Chico Panthers by a score of 53-50 on Tuesday. The Wildcats have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.

Chico's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Josie Carlos led the charge by going 8-for-18 on her way to 22 points. Carlos has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. Kayleigh Solano was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 11 points and nine boards.

Dougherty Valley's loss dropped their record down to 21-12. As for Chico, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-13.

Dougherty Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Chico, they will challenge Immanuel at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Immanuel will roll in looking for their 17th straight win, something Chico surely won't give up without a fight.
