Baseball Game Preview: LaBrae Vikings vs. Springfield Tigers

The LaBrae Vikings will challenge the Springfield Tigers at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. LaBrae is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

LaBrae is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They put the hurt on David Anderson with a sharp 11-1 win. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by seven runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Austin Rowe, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Easton Armstrong, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

LaBrae always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as David Anderson only posted an OBP of .263.

Independence typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Springfield proved too difficult a challenge. They had just enough and edged out the Blue Devils 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since May 5, 2025.

Jaxon Minetti made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Springfield is 5-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 9-10 otherwise. Minetti was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Minetti wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Ensley, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

LaBrae's record is now 19-5. As for Springfield, their record now sits at 14-11.
