Basketball Recap: Garces Memorial Takes a Loss

Garces Memorial was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They were beaten by the Bakersfield Christian Eagles 81-26. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1090th, while the Eagles are ranked 218th).

Bakersfield Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kalaya Miller led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten steals. Miller is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Bila, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten assists.

Garces Memorial's defeat dropped their record down to 4-18. As for Bakersfield Christian, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-11.

Garces Memorial will head out on the road to challenge Highland at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Bakersfield Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Centennial at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. Bakersfield Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.4 points per game this season.
