Basketball Recap: Schuylkill Haven Comes Up Short

After flying high against Palisades on Wednesday, Schuylkill Haven came back down to earth. The Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes fell 65-57 to the North Schuylkill Spartans on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hurricanes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 58-37 back in January.

Despite the defeat, Schuylkill Haven saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Mckenna Runkle posted 29 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Runkle has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Alea Porter, who put up eight points.

Schuylkill Haven suffered their first road loss, dropping their record down to 15-5. As for North Schuylkill, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Schuylkill Haven has already played their next match, a 41-23 victory against Mount Carmel on the 1st. As for North Schuylkill, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 68-38 win against Williamsport on the 1st.
