Football Recap: Adrian Colon's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Union Pines over Pinecrest

Union Pines's game on Friday was all tied up 7-7 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 21-16 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pinecrest Patriots. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 205th, while the Patriots are ranked 63rd).

Several Vikings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Adrian Colon, who rushed for 111 yards.

Chris Najm was nothing short of spectacular for Pinecrest: he rushed for 79 yards and two touchdowns.

Union Pines' defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Pinecrest, the victory also got them back to even at 1-1.

Coming up, Union Pines will take on Eastern Randolph at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Pinecrest, they are taking a road trip to take on Davie County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
