Softball Recap: Eagle Valley Takes a Loss

Eagle Valley extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping them down to 4-10-2. They came up short against the Durango Demons, falling 16-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Demons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-5 on Saturday.

Eagle Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Brueck, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Brueck has hit this season.

As for Durango, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-7. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by seven runs or more this season.

On Durango's side, Jenna Glueck made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Glueck has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Avery Clair, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was Marcela Jimenez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and one run.

Coming up, Eagle Valley will face off against Palisade at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season. As for Durango, they will take on Fruita Monument at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
