Softball Game Preview: Sandy Creek Patriots vs. Westlake Lions

The Sandy Creek Patriots are taking a road trip to take on the Westlake Lions at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sandy Creek has given up an average of 14.8 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Sandy Creek came up short against Whitewater on Thursday, falling 16-1. The loss continues a trend for the Patriots in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost eight in a row.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Westlake duked it out with Locust Grove on Wednesday. The Lions fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 13-12.

Raina Gantt was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Amariyah Lambert was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Westlake's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6-1. As for Sandy Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 5-15.

Sandy Creek might still be hurting after the 18-8 defeat they got from Westlake in their previous meeting back in August of 2016. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
