Basketball Game Preview: Laguna Beach Breakers vs. Tustin Tillers

The Laguna Beach Breakers just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Tustin Tillers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

While Laguna Beach didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-21), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against Magnolia on Monday as Laguna Beach made off with a 63-38 victory. Given the Breakers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 405th, while the Sentinels are ranked 867th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Kate Cheng, who posted 27 points. Another player making a difference was Hayden Crane-Henning, who earned 12 points.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Tustin against Mission Viejo on Saturday as the squad secured a 67-29 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tillers.

Laguna Beach is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.5 points per game. As for Tustin, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.

Things could have been worse for Laguna Beach, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 45-31 loss to Tustin in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Laguna Beach avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
