Softball Recap: Buena Vista Takes a Loss

Buena Vista had lost seven straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 7-19 to make it eight. They came up short against the Fremont Tigers, falling 14-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bison of the 12-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

As for Fremont, their record now sits at 5-26. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Fremont's part, they let Morgan Sintek and Deanna Combs run wild. Sintek went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Combs went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave Combs a new career-high. Karina Cervantes was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Buena Vista does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Fremont, they will head out to face off against Millard North at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mustangs' pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
