Recap: Sierra Timberwolves vs. East Union Lancers

The Sierra Timberwolves lost against the East Union Lancers on January 9th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Sierra fell to East Union 40-35. While losing is never fun, Sierra can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 473rd, while East Union is ranked 138th).

Several Timberwolves players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mya Everett, who scored 12 points along with three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Abigail Chapman, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds.

East Union found their leader in underclassman Nylah Dyson, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Alexa Zuniga, who scored eight points.

Sierra has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-11 record this season. As for East Union, the victory (which was their 15th in a row) raised their record to 21-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sierra will take on Oakdale at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for East Union, they will be playing at home against Manteca at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Manteca is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
