Preview: El Dorado Cougars vs. Casa Roble Rams
The El Dorado Cougars will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Casa Roble Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
El Dorado struggled with assists on Thursday (Calaveras had 14 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. El Dorado ended up on the wrong side of a rough 56-36 walloping at the hands of Calaveras. El Dorado has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, El Dorado got a solid performance out of Alana Schneider, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. The contest was Schneider's 11th in a row with at least ten points.
Meanwhile, Casa Roble's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Twelve Bridges, falling 67-29.
Despite the loss, Casa Roble had strong showings from Lydia Chechourka-Price, who scored ten points, and Natalie Mathieson, who scored nine points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mathieson has scored all season.
El Dorado's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Casa Roble, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season.
Everything came up roses for El Dorado against Casa Roble in their previous matchup back in November as the team secured a 75-25 win. With El Dorado ahead 37-11 at the half, the match was all but over already.
