Two dominant backs in Taden Gottschalk and Piercen Huff are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. Logan/Palco will head out on the road to square off against the Central Christian Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Logan/Palco is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They breezed past Satanta to the tune of 54-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for Logan/Palco.
Case Ashmore had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 76 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries, and also threw for 128 yards and a pair of TDs on only 12 passes. Carson Knipp was another key player, rushing for 67 yards and one score.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Logan/Palco's defense and their five sacks. Satanta's QB won't forget Bryson Bollig anytime soon given he sacked him four times.
Meanwhile, Central Christian never let their opponents score on Thursday. They blew past Stafford 54-0. The Cougars' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Central Christian's win came from a few key players Logan/Palco will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Luke Eigsti, who rushed for 64 yards and one touchdown on only five carries, and also threw for 49 yards and one TD while completing 83.3% of his passes. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making five total tackles and defending one pass. Another player making a difference was Konnor Sullivan, who rushed for 61 yards and one score.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Central Christian was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 248 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 167 rushing yards in seven consecutive games.
Central Christian didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Calvin Barnett picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Logan/Palco's record now sits at 7-2. As for Central Christian, their record is now 9-0.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Logan/Palco has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 256.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Central Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 177 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Logan/Palco took a serious blow against Central Christian in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, falling 48-6. Can Logan/Palco avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
