Softball Recap: Omaha North Takes a Loss

Omaha North extended their losing streak to 19 on Monday, dropping them down to 2-20. They came up short against the Omaha Central Eagles, falling 17-2. The Vikings were not able to make up for their loss to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Omaha North saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anna Bartsch, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Jayla Turner also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

As for Omaha Central, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-8. Considering they have won 11 contests by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

On Omaha Central's side, Kaziylah Terrell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Terrell has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in August.

In other batting news, Katelyn McClure was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 11 matchups. Nichole Palfini was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Omaha North is set to face off against their familiar foe Marian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Omaha Central will challenge rival Bellevue East at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
