Softball Recap: Papillion-Lavista Wins High-Profile Matchup Against Lincoln East

Papillion-LaVista faced Lincoln East in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Monarchs were the clear victors by a 12-5 margin over the Spartans. The result was nothing new for the Monarchs, who have now won 21 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Alexa Taylor was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in September. The team also got some help courtesy of Toria Rother, who went 3-for-4 with six RBI.

Papillion-LaVista was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. They are a perfect 19-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Papillion-LaVista has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Lincoln East, they dropped their record down to 20-15 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Papillion-LaVista didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 9-1 victory against Gretna on the 15th. Lincoln East does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
