Recap: Gardena Panthers vs. Banning Pilots
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against San Pedro, the Gardena Panthers were happy to have found some success on Wednesday. They enjoyed a cozy 36-22 victory over Banning. For Gardena, this counts as revenge for the 31-27 defeat Banning walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Leading Gardena to victory were Lauren Tobin-Williams and India Cage. Tobin-Williams scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals, while Cage scored six points along with six steals. De'Ajanae Reed was another key contributor, scoring five points along with two steals.
Banning's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Joshlyn Harris, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds and two blocks, and Lluviastar Hernandez who scored three points along with nine rebounds.
Gardena pushed their record up to 10-6 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Banning, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gardena will take on Rancho Dominguez at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Rancho Dominguez is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. As for Banning, they will be playing at home against San Pedro at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. San Pedro will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
