Basketball Recap: Redding Christian Comes Up Short

Redding Christian was the 44-32 winner over Burney when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Redding Christian Lions were just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 42-41 to the Burney Raiders.

Leading Burney to victory were Alexis Witzel and Aaliyah Perez. Witzel went 7 of 14 on her way to 19 points and six boards, while Perez posted ten points in addition to three steals and three blocks. That's the most blocks Perez has posted since back in December of 2024.

Redding Christian's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 14-12. As for Burney, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-6.

Looking ahead, Redding Christian will square off against Chester at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Burney, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Los Molinos at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
