Basketball Game Preview: Tranquillity Tigers vs. Alpaugh Buffalos

Tranquillity is on a 16-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, Alpaugh a five-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Wednesday. Having just played yesterday, the Tranquillity Tigers will get right back to it and host the Alpaugh Buffalos at 5:30 p.m. Neither of these teams found much success offensively their last time out, scoring well below their season average.

Tranquillity is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Mendota on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Tranquillity was beaten by Mendota 53-15. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-8.

Meanwhile, Alpaugh came up short against Laton on Friday and fell 31-23.

Tranquillity will need focus on slowing down Rosalyn Perez, one of several Alpaugh players who made an impact when they last played. She posted six points in addition to nine boards and four steals. Perez has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times she's played.

Even though they lost, Alpaugh smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in nine consecutive games.

Alpaugh's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Tranquillity, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-18.

Tranquillity was able to grind out a solid victory over Alpaugh in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, winning 47-40. Will Tranquillity repeat their success, or does Alpaugh have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
