Baseball Recap: Dalton Makes It Three in a Row at Home

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Dalton and Woodland have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Friday. Dalton came out on top against Woodland by a score of 6-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-2 last Tuesday.

Jose Orrelanes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Dalton saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor Stockard, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI. Asher Renfroe also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Dalton pushed their record up to 13-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Woodland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-6.

Dalton will have a chance to go back-to-back against Woodland: the pair will be back at it again later today.
