Soccer Game Preview: Cupertino vs. Fremont

Cupertino hasn't had much luck against Fremont recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Cupertino Pioneers will head out to take on the Fremont Firebirds at 6:00 p.m.

Things were looking good for Cupertino after they put the first points on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Saratoga by a score of 4-3.

Meanwhile, Fremont had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 goals) and they went ahead and made it eight on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Condor a 5-0 shutout. The Firebirds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by three goals or more this season.

Stella Civelli and Rylan Cashman scored all five of Fremont's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 51 goals.

Fremont pushed their record up to 14-3-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 33 goals over those eight contests. As for Cupertino, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7.

Cupertino might still be hurting after the 4-1 loss they got from Fremont in their previous meeting back in January. Can Cupertino avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
