Baseball Recap: Madison Comes Up Short

Madison fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Mount Abram on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 6-3 to the Roadrunners. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Roadrunners recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Jayden Horton was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run.

Madison's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Mount Abram, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-8 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Madison will host Oak Hill at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Raiders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.83 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Mount Abram, they will face off against Lisbon at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
