Softball Recap: Northside Beats Northgate for Their Fifth Straight Victory

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Northside ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They skirted past the Northgate Vikings 6-5. The win was nothing new for the Patriots as they're now sitting on five straight.

Wetherly Ridley spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sidne Malone, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Kassidy Anderson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Northside's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Northgate, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-2.

Looking ahead, Northside will face off against Harris County at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Northgate, they will venture away from home to square off against Banneker at 5:55 p.m. on Tuesday.
