Baseball Recap: Clare Pioneers vs. Beal City Aggies

Clare lost to Beal City on Friday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Pioneers fell just short of the Aggies by a score of 4-3. The Pioneers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Brody Allen was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Allen was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.

Allen wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Dane Alexander, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Clare's defeat dropped their record down to 14-14. As for Beal City, the win (which was their 20th in a row) raised their record to 24-7.

Coming up, Clare will face off against St. Francis at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Gladiators' pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so the Pioneers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Beal City, they will square off against DeWitt at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
