Nationally-ranked matchup of No. 2 Bishop Gorman vs. No. 6 Miami Central headlines slate.

Week two of high school football action in Florida includes a handful of intriguing matchups headlined by a nationally-ranked showdown between No. 2 Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, Nev.) and No. 6 Central (Miami) on Friday night.

Bishop Gorman opened the season with a pair of lopsided victories over quality opponents, knocking off Corner Canyon (Draper, Utah) 63-42 in week one before dismantling Long Beach Poly (Long Beach, Calif.) 60-15 last weekend.

Gorman's potent offensive attack is led by senior Hawaii commit Micah Alejado, who has thrown for 553 yards and five touchdowns through two weeks, and senior Michigan commit Micah Kaapana, who has rushed for 263 yards and four touchdowns this season.

According to the MaxPreps Computer Rankings, there are six matchups between state-ranked opponents this weekend:

* No. 8 Cocoa vs. No. 17 Venice
* No. 21 West Orange (Winter Garden) vs. No. 25 Apopka.

Hurricane Idalia is expected to have a major impact on the high school football schedule in Florida, particularly the Tampa area. Cancellations and postponements are likely throughout the weekend.

The storm made landfall in Florida's Big Bend near Keaton Beach this morning, with maximum sustained winds of 125 miles per hour. It is now a Category 1 hurricane after briefly reaching Category 4 overnight.
