            Football Recap: Yreka Miners vs. Lassen Grizzlies        
        
		
        
        
            
Yreka dropped to 6-3 on Friday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They were beaten by the Lassen Grizzlies 41-10. While losing is never fun, the Miners can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 562nd, while the Grizzlies are ranked 238th).
 Jerome Walker threw for 71 yards  on two of ten attempts.   Abel Navarro was his top target, picking up 71 receiving yards.
As for Lassen, the  victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-2. The  wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.4 points on average over those games.
 Lassen had a senior duo take command as  Dathen Moore gained 160 total yards and two touchdowns and  Dowan Stephens rushed for 60 yards and three  TDs. Moore also  rushed for 124  rushing yards, which is notable because the Grizzlies are undefeated when he posts  at  least  80  rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise.  Krush Costello got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
 We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Yreka is set to  square off against  their familiar foe University Prep  at 7:30  p.m.  on Friday. Meanwhile, Lassen will  challenge  rival Central Valley  at 7:30  p.m.  on Friday. That  matchup will pit two of the most dominant  backs against one another:  Stephens and  Aj Johnson.
