Baseball Game Preview: Flint River Academy Wildcats vs. Lafayette Christian Cougars

Flint River Academy has won eight straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Lafayette Christian has won eight straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Wildcats will welcome the Cougars at 6:30 p.m. Flint River Academy will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Flint River Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 22-7 margin over Holy Spirit Prep on Tuesday. Considering the Wildcats have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Hunter Pike was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brack Spangler, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Flint River Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, after a string of ten wins, Lafayette Christian's good fortune finally ran out two weeks ago. They fell just short of Creekside Christian Academy by a score of 2-1. The matchup marked Lafayette Christian's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Lafayette Christian saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Childree, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Flint River Academy's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Lafayette Christian, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 14-2.

Flint River Academy took their victory against Lafayette Christian in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 9-3 score. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
