High school football: Danny Stoddard of Ohio is the nation's lone 3,000-yard passer, tops yardage leaderboard

Medina High School junior threw for 336 yards and four scores in a win last week.

Danny Stoddard of Medina (Ohio) is high school football's national leader when it comes to passing yardage, according to statistics submitted to MaxPreps. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound junior has thrown for 3,125 yards during a 7-1 start for the Battling Bees.

Stoddard, who has already thrown 37 touchdown passes, completed 25 of 34 pass attempts for 336 yards and four scores in a 42-21 triumph over Brunswick last weekend.

For the year, Stoddard has gone over 400 yards three times and threw for a season-high 621 yards and six touchdowns on 39 of 52 passing in a 43-42 loss to Avon in August, Medina's only setback of the season. In addition to the damage he has done with is arm, the Buckeye State standout has run for another 432 yards and six touchdowns.

Ponder (Texas) senior Clifton Cooper checks in at No. 2 on the list with 2,809 yards. Cooper went off on Pilot Point last weekend, going 33 of 50 for 460 yards and three touchdowns in a 58-55 loss. Cooper sits at 5,344 yards for his career with four contests remaining on Ponder's schedule.

Jaxon Jensen of Canyon View (Cedar City, Utah) sits in the No. 3 spot with 2,675 yards. The 5-11, 165-pound junior reached 400 yards for the second straight weekend when he completed 31 of 47 passes for 408 yards and three scores in a 21-7 win over Richfield last Friday.
