Softball Recap: Fairland Makes It Four in a Row at Home

While Fairland's win against Salina wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Owls narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Wildcats 9-7. Nine seems to be a good number for the Owls as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

The team relied heavily on Calli Moncada, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mia Ross, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Fairland's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Salina, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.

Looking ahead, Fairland will square off against Pawhuska at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Owls' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Huskies have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
