Baseball Recap: Buchholz's Undefeated Season over After 22 Games

Buchholz managed to slip by Lincoln the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Bobcats came up short against the Trojans on Saturday, falling 10-4. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Bobcats, who until this matchup were averaging 2.68 runs allowed.

Buchholz got a good showing from Dion Wilburn, who tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Wilburn has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Buchholz saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aidan Kastensmidt, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Kai So was another, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Having lost for the first time this season, Buchholz fell to 21-1. As for Lincoln, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 14-9 record.

Buchholz and Lincoln should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. The Bobcats will face off against Forest at 7:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (5 vs. 213). Meanwhile, Lincoln (ranked 34th) will meet Bartram Trail (ranked 160th) at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
