Preview: Corcoran Panthers vs. Woodlake Tigers
Corcoran is 10-0 against Woodlake since February of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Corcoran Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Woodlake Tigers at 6:30 p.m. Corcoran is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games.
Strathmore typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Corcoran proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 51-43 victory over the Spartans.
Corcoran's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Katalina Castillo, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 17 rebounds, and Zoee Cabral, who scored 24 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cabral has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Emilee Santos, who scored four points along with six assists.
Woodlake posted their closest win yet this season on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 35-33 victory over Kings Christian. The victory was just what Woodlake needed coming off of a 68-34 loss in their prior matchup.
Corcoran has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. As for Woodlake, their victory bumped their record up to 9-13.
Everything came up roses for Corcoran against Woodlake when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 54-15 victory. Does Corcoran have another victory up their sleeve, or will Woodlake turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
