Softball Game Preview: Sergeant Bluff-Luton Warriors vs. West Lyon Wildcats

The Sergeant Bluff-Luton Warriors are taking a road trip to square off against the West Lyon Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Sergeant Bluff-Luton 3.5, West Lyon 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Sergeant Bluff-Luton can't be too worried about heading out to take on West Lyon: they just beat Sioux City East at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Black Raiders on Tuesday. Considering the Warriors have won 18 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, West Lyon strolled into their game on Monday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over Unity Christian.

Sergeant Bluff-Luton is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for West Lyon, they pushed their record up to 20-0 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Sergeant Bluff-Luton might still be hurting after the 11-3 loss they got from West Lyon when the teams last played on June 7th. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
