Soccer Game Preview: San Joaquin Memorial vs. Torres

The San Joaquin Memorial Panthers will take on the Torres Toros at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

San Joaquin Memorial is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to four goals on Friday, they were much more limited against Edison on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 1-0. The match was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but the Panthers couldn't quite close it out.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Torres). They never let Madera onto the board and left with an 8-0 victory on Wednesday. Sirena Heras was a massive factor in the win as she booted in four goals all by herself.

The win (which was Torres' third in a row) raised their record to 8-4. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three contests. As for San Joaquin Memorial, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12-3 record this season.
