Softball Recap: McDonough Warhawks vs. Hampton Hornets
McDonough extended their losing streak to nine on Wednesday, dropping them down to 1-13. They came up short against the Hampton Hornets, falling 25-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-1 back in August.
Audrianna Bennett was cooking despite her team's loss, earning one RBI, one run, and three stolen bases.
As for Hampton, the victory snapped their losing streak at seven games and leaves them with a 3-11 record. That 21 run margin sets a new team best for them this season.
On Hampton's side, Catherine Court made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. That's the most strikeouts Court has posted since back in August. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Hampton got a massive performance out of Ashlynne Wrye, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs Wrye has posted since back in August. Aaliyah Davis also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
McDonough has already played their next game, a 16-7 defeat against Stockbridge on the 11th. As for Hampton, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 18-17 loss against Eagle's Landing on the 11th.
