Recap: North Valley Christian Academy Lions vs. Phoenix Country Day Eagles

If the North Valley Christian Academy Lions were feeling good off their 48-11 takedown of the Tonopah Valley Phoenix on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. North Valley Christian Academy was outmatched by Phoenix Country Day on the road and fell 60-21. While losing is never fun, North Valley Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 192nd, while Phoenix Country Day is ranked 31st).

North Valley Christian Academy lost on Friday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Triniti Terracciano, who scored 13 points. Terracciano scored a full 61.9% of North Valley Christian Academy's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Rice, who scored five points along with seven rebounds.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, North Valley Christian Academy struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Phoenix Country Day racked up 11 assists.

Phoenix Country Day can attribute much of their success to Aila Kaibara, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Kaibara has scored at least 25% of Phoenix Country Day's points. Rylie Llyods was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

North Valley Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Phoenix Country Day, the win (which was their 21st in a row dating back to last season) raised their record to 3-0.

North Valley Christian Academy is on the road again on Friday and play against Wickenburg at 12:00 p.m. on December 1st. As for Phoenix Country Day, they will face off against Tonopah Valley at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
