Basketball Recap: La Quinta Takes a Loss

La Quinta lost against Palm Desert on January 6th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The La Quinta Blackhawks were dealt a 55-28 loss at the hands of the Palm Desert Aztecs. The Blackhawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why La Quinta lost, don't look at Sophie Barrow. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Palm Desert to victory, but perhaps none more so than Katelyn Gallagher, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten steals. Gallagher has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 39 times she's played. Ava Tethal was another key player, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 14 boards.

La Quinta's defeat dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Palm Desert, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

La Quinta will look to defend their home court on Monday against Palm Springs at 6:30 p.m. As for Palm Desert, they will head out to face off against Rancho Mirage at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Palm Desert will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
