Softball Recap: Lewis-Palmer Rangers vs. Air Academy Kadets
Lewis-Palmer had lost 12 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 2-15 to make it 13. They came up short against the Air Academy Kadets, falling 12-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Kadets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 21-10 on September 3rd.
As for Air Academy, their record is now 12-3-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.
For Air Academy's part, Bailey Williams made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Williams has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in August.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Keira Finkle, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Kylen Tucker-Flynn also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lewis-Palmer will challenge Elizabeth at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Air Academy, they will take on Liberty at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
