Short came up big in James F. Byrnes' 4-1 win
Winning always takes teamwork, but on Wednesday Jake Short stepped things up a notch to give James F. Byrnes the 'W'. Short was dynamite, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk).
Short's strong effort led James F. Byrnes over Gaffney and he'll get a chance to do so again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. James F. Byrnes is 8-2 against Gaffney going back to April of 2018, a lead they'll look to extend.
