Softball Recap: North Port Comes Up Short

North Port had lost five straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 2-5 to make it six. They came up short against the Sarasota Sailors, falling 9-2. The contest marked the Bobcats' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

North Port saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Baskins, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

As for Sarasota, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 13.8 runs this season.

On Sarasota's side, Gianna Williams was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Williams has posted since back in April of 2025. Gia DePastino also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Port will square off against Babcock at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bobcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trailblazers have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. As for Sarasota, they will take on Sumner at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Sailors 3.8, the Stingrays 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
