Basketball Game Preview: Leuzinger Olympians vs. Culver City Centaurs

The Leuzinger Olympians and the Culver City Centaurs will face off at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Leuzinger has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

On Friday, Leuzinger blew past Hawthorne, posting an 81-13 victory. That looming 81-13 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Olympians yet this season.

Leuzinger's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Tatyana Aubry, who went 12 of 19 en route to 28 points and seven assists, and Brianna Ike, who went 11 for 26 on her way to 23 points along with eight steals and five boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Aubry has scored at least a third of Leuzinger's points. Another player making a difference was Sovereign Woods, who posted seven points and five steals.

Meanwhile, Culver City had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 46 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 53-42 win over the Vikings.

Leuzinger is also on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 contests, which provided a massive bump to their 13-11 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.4 points per game. As for Culver City, their victory bumped their record up to 13-8.

Everything went Leuzinger's way against Culver City in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, as Leuzinger made off with a 60-35 win. Will Leuzinger repeat their success, or does Culver City have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
