Baseball Recap: Hardaway Wins Going Away Against Spencer

Hardaway won the last time they faced Spencer and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Hardaway Hawks blew past the Spencer Greenwave 16-3. Considering the Hawks have won nine matches by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Keshaun Davis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Jayden Foster and Christian Eleby did most of the damage at the plate: Foster scored three runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Eleby scored three runs and stole Five bases. while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. The dominant performance gave Foster a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Cadden Smith, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Hardaway always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .657. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .533 or higher in three consecutive games.

Hardaway has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. Spencer dropped their record down to 2-4 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Hardaway will welcome Kendrick at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hardaway is facing Kendrick at the right time seeing as Kendrick is stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Spencer, they will face off against Jordan at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Spencer has given up an average of 12.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
