Basketball Game Preview: Mt. Diablo Red Devils vs. Berean Christian Eagles

The Mt. Diablo Red Devils will head out on the road to square off against the Berean Christian Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Mt. Diablo took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 41-14 win over Benicia. The victory was some much needed relief for the Red Devils as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Mt. Diablo's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carlesia Adams, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. Adams has become a key player for Mt. Diablo: the team is undefeated when she posts at least eight boards, but 6-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Dance, who went 5 for 9 on her way to 11 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals.

Mt. Diablo smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in six consecutive games.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Berean Christian challenged College Park on Wednesday. Berean Christian took down College Park 47-32.

Mt. Diablo's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 10-8. As for Berean Christian, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-8.

Mt. Diablo was able to grind out a solid victory over Berean Christian when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 54-44. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mt. Diablo since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
