Preview: Santa Cruz Cardinals vs. San Lorenzo Valley Cougars
Santa Cruz is 10-0 against the Cougars since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Santa Cruz Cardinals will be playing at home against the San Lorenzo Valley Cougars at 6:00 p.m. Santa Cruz will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 24 to 11 on the offensive boards, a fact Santa Cruz proved on Tuesday. They walked away with a 47-39 victory over Aptos.
Santa Cruz found their leader in underclassman Kina Espinosa, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Espinosa has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalia Espinosa, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, San Lorenzo Valley came up short against the Falcons on Tuesday and fell 51-41. San Lorenzo Valley has not had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Santa Cruz has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. As for San Lorenzo Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 6-15.
Everything went Santa Cruz's way against the Cougars when the teams last played back in January as the Cardinals made off with a 58-38 victory. Does Santa Cruz have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
