Football Recap: Upland Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Upland can now relate to. They fell just short of the St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy Warriors by a score of 31-28 on Friday.

Several Highlanders/Scots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jerome Smith (Spanky), who picked up 61 receiving yards and one TD, and also rushed for 70 yards on only six carries. Another pass catcher making a difference was Dane Gosserand, who picked up 69 receiving yards and one score.

Upland's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.

Upland does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy, they will square off against Roosevelt at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
